People, Ponds and Water

We are now recruiting for a major three-year project supported by Heritage Lottery Fund.  ’People, Ponds and Water’ will work with thousands of people to make a national difference to freshwater biodiversity, and has three elements:

  • PondNet: a new national freshwater network to collect essential monitoring information on endangered freshwater species,
  • Flagship Ponds: supporting local communities to manage the most important pond sites in England and Wales and undertake citizen science projects,
  • Clean Water for Wildlife: providing people with nutrient kits to investigate pollutant levels in streams, ponds and other waterbodies: raising awareness of the importance of water quality for protecting biodiversity.
